QianLi 6558 Gorilla Microscope vs YCS 6558S Trinocular Microscope

Both are trinocular stereo zoom microscopes built on the same 6558 optical ecosystem — QianLi's flagship microscope line and the YCS value line from Mr. Yang's workshop. They share the same post-mount stand standard, LED ring illumination, and a third port for a camera. The real differences are zoom range, bundled camera optics, and price tier.

Which One Should You Choose?

Choose the QianLi 6558 Gorilla if you need the full 3.5X–90X range for fine BGA work and want the established QianLi flagship. Choose the YCS 6558S if you want a lower-cost entry into true trinocular soldering — it bundles the CTV 0.5x camera adapter and a limiter ring in the box, and covers the 6.5X–58X window where most daily board work happens. Both mount on the Pushi repair desk with the YCS Dragon arm, and both accept a 4K camera on the trinocular port.

QianLi 6558 Gorilla Microscope vs YCS 6558S Trinocular Microscope — FAQ

Do both microscopes fit the same stands and arms?

Yes. Both use the same post-mount standard as the rest of the 6558 ecosystem, so either fits the Pushi repair desk, the YCS Dragon multi-axis arm, or a standard pillar stand. You can mix QianLi and YCS accessories freely.

Which one should I buy for BGA rework?

If your BGA work lives at 30X–90X, the Gorilla's wider 3.5X–90X zoom gives more headroom for fine ball inspection. For shielding, connector, and most chip-level work under 60X, the 6558S covers the same ground at a lower cost — with the CTV 0.5x camera adapter already included.

Is the YCS 6558S a downgrade of the Gorilla?

No — it is the same optical ecosystem positioned differently. The 6558S trades some zoom range for a friendlier price and bundles the CTV 0.5x adapter and limiter ring standard. Many shops run both: Gorilla at the BGA bench, 6558S at the general repair bench.
